Simple Food and Diet Nutrition Remedies for Your Common Health Ailments

July 31, 2008

You are what you eat is a simple, time tested adage that still holds true today. There are non-medical remedies that can help with many of today’s most common illnesses and conditions. In fact, making simple changes to your food diet to cure your common cold, acne or constipation problems is a much better choice than resorting to drugs. For one, natural food and diet remedies most often do not give you harmful side-effects that western allopathic medicine can bring.

Here are some health ailments that can be easily treated with a simple food and diet remedy:

Allergies. More Americans suffer from allergies than ever before. Perhaps the best remedy for allergies is drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Garlic and cayenne pepper have been used for years, and a good intestinal cleansing has been shown to provide relief. Almonds and walnuts, as well as sunflower seeds, reduce symptoms, and make sure that you are taking a multi-vitamin with the recommended doses of vitamins C, A, E and zinc.

Acne. Acne in both teens and adults is also becoming more and more common. There are many natural dietary changes that you can make to help clear up your skin. First, drink water. It flushes out the impurities. Soy protein helps, as does increasing your consumption of whole grains, fresh fruits and root vegetables. Have three servings of oily fish weekly and add some cold pressed seed oil daily.

Constipation. To help constipation, increase your intake of folic acid. Apple pectin can help relieve constipation and add fiber to your diet. Try drinking some ginger tea or yerba mate in tea form. Cod liver oil is a tried and true, but hard to swallow, remedy. Warm dandelion tea also helps.

Stress. Holy basil, also known as Tulsi, has been used to relieve stress and normalize cortical levels. Limiting caffeine can help the body to reduce the level of adrenaline. When you’re particularly stressed out, eat carbohydrates and fresh vegetables. They help the body release serotonin which produce a feeling of well-being.

Cancer. Consuming the trace elements that are plentiful in seafood has been shown to help cancer patients. Broccoli, mustard greens, cabbage and turnips have been recently touted as not only preventative maintenance but perhaps even cures for different types of cancers. Limit your fats.

Help your body cure itself by trying some of these simple food and diet changes. By also including them in your regular diet, you also help in the prevention of these health problems and to build a strong immune system.

The HUGE Deposit of Diamond in You

July 31, 2008

Something happened to me some years back that is worthy is sharing with everybody all over the world. When I started running my business, things were very tough for me to the point that I could hardly afford to have a dime on me. One of those days, I was at home and very hungry with no hope of seeing anything to munch. I tried to force myself to sleep, but I could only succeed for just thirty minutes! I was so hungry that I just couldn’t have time for my favorite past time, reading.

In another attempt to sleep, I struggled and slept for an hour or so before I woke up again. There was simply no available option for me because I was the only person at home then. At the last botched attempt to force myself to sleep, something just spurred me to look at a corner of the room and to my greatest surprise; I saw a bowl being covered. I quickly ran to where it was and unbelievably, there is enough food inside the bowl that I won’t be able to finish!

It dawned on me that that is just an important lesson of life. So many people are surrounded with all that they needed to live a worthy life but they just couldn’t open their eyes to see what they have within or around them. Instead of discovering themselves, people prefer to complain about several things militating against their progress in life. They talk about their family background, the society and circumstances beyond their control when all they could have done is self ? discovery.

It is on record that man is created with about 500 abilities! When I discovered that I am created with 500 jobs inside of me I told myself I would never look for a job or be unemployed in my life. When you discover all that has been deposited within you, then you will never live a life of mediocrity like so many in the rat race. Why should you or anyone live in poverty when abundance is at your fingertips? That is a question I am yet to find an answer to and you also need to keep asking yourself this type of question.

There are so much within you that you need not complain of being unemployed. You have a huge deposit of diamond within you that it is virtually impossible for you to fail. This is the truth that you need to hold on to tenaciously in order for you to make headway in life. When you are sure of this, nothing happening around you matters. Go out and succeed, because you have SO MUCH inside of you.

To Your Success,

Special Baby Clothes For Those Special Days

Special Baby Clothes For Those Special Days
 by: Kirsten Hawkins

Baby clothes are a necessity more than anything else, but there are a couple of special occasions that make the baby the center of attention. It is moments like this that the mother’s keen sense of fashion gets to shine. Here, the fact that the baby will undoubtedly grow out of the outfit quickly is of little to no concern, and style is of the utmost importance. In most cases, so is tradition.

Perhaps the most obvious of these occasions is baby’s homecoming. Almost any mother can tell you what they brought their baby home in. Depending on the time of year, this special outfit can range from a fruit print romper to a pair of footsie pajamas. In this case, it is the sentiment attached to the moment that makes the outfit so special. It is a good idea to save this outfit in a memory box for when your child has children of their own, or make it into a treasured stuffed animal. Any way that you think is fitting to preserve the memory works, but doing something to set this outfit aside is important.

The next big day is the baby’s introduction to family. What is your baby going to be wearing the first time they meet their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and close friends? If this is a small secular gathering, then something informal is an easy out. However, you may want to dress the new family member up for the multitude of pictures that will inevitably be taken. Of course, there is also the weather to take into account. If the baby is going to be in a hot crowded home, then keeping them cool is they key factor in choosing appropriate attire. A thin cotton dress for a girl, or a onesie works great. Think of the day as an excuse to let others change the diapers for a little while.

There is of course the more common baby coming out, either christenings or a bris. The traditional christening attire is, of course a white garment. This can take many forms, from a gown to a suit, and a whole host of materials. The important thing to remember is that the baby is going to be passed around a lot on a day like today, so make sure that he or she is comfortable no matter how angelic they look.

For a bris, the attire is clearly gender specific. Therefore, baby tuxedos and suits are a hot item. You would be surprised at the inexpensive prices at which you can find a tiny tux. For less than thirty dollars, your baby can be in his very own penguin suit. There are also more traditional items, which are very much like that of the Christian baptism ceremony. That is, long white gowns with blue trim. These are also modestly priced, and generally work for either ceremony (which could potentially be a big money saver for an interfaith marriage).

The special occasion that all mothers look forward to at the end of a stressful but joyous year is the baby’s first birthday. This outfit is much like the baby’s coming home outfit (except significantly larger), and can be a whole host of different styles or degrees of formality. The most important thing about this outfit is, of course, its resistance to cake stains.

Choosing The Right Flowers For Mom

Choosing The Right Flowers For Mom
 by: Bob Hett

If you are one of those people that are always left wondering what to get dear old mom for her birthday, Mother’s Day, or any other holiday or occasion, the answer is flowers. Flowers for mom are the gift that is always the right size and color, and will never have to be returned. Flowers are always considered tasteful and thoughtful. They are also relatively affordable, and mom will never fail to be delighted that you remembered. They can be ordered over the phone or the Internet, so they are incredibly convenient for the giver. Nearly every woman enjoys getting flowers and they are a constant, beautiful reminder that someone cares about them. The final added bonus of giving flowers as a gift is that they are always a nice surprise that was completely unexpected. Everyone likes those kinds of surprises.

If you are the kind of person that has no idea what color or type of flower arrangement to order, any efficient florist can help you decide what kind of floral design will suit your occasion. Part of their job is to ask specific questions about the person the flowers are meant for and what the occasion is. Knowing some basic information about mom will help them design the perfect arrangement. For instance, does your mom favor traditional furnishings in her house or is it more contemporary? What colors does she prefer in her clothes and decorating choices?

By visiting any floral delivery site or any florist shop, you will find that they really do have arrangements for any reason. They have seasonal bouquets that showcase the flowers of spring or fall. They can offer you attractive holiday arrangements from simple to elaborate, with plenty of holiday colors and scents that you associate with that time of year. They can put her arrangement in an attractive basket or cute mug. They can include balloons or a darling plush animal. The possibilities are really endless.

Florist services are not just for flowers, either. Even if your mother is allergic to flowers, a florist can still provide you with an attractive gift. For instance, they can send your mother a beautiful fruit basket with decadent fruits that are out of season where she lives, or a gift basket with luxurious personal care items that she would not buy for herself but would let her know that you are thinking about her comfort. Even if your mother is the no-nonsense type that thinks flowers are a waste of money, a florist can find a nice plant that will continually remind her that you care.

So finding flowers for mom does not have to be a difficult task. If you are unsure, ask your florist. They will be happy to help you pick the perfect bouquet to remind mom that you were always her favorite.

Creative Visualization: How to Supercharge Your Goal Setting

July 31, 2008

Do you know the single best way to “supercharge” any goal setting program you use is through visualization?

What is visualization? And how do you do it for maximum goal achievement?

Actually, it’s quite simple and something you do all the time.

Simply create a mental picture of the end result of your goal. Completely visualizing your desired goal is also an extremely powerful way to change one’s subconscous programming for the better.

For example, if your affirmation is “I easily make $1,000 or more each week” then you simply create a mental picture of:

  • depositing $1,000 into your bank account;
  • holding 10 $100 bills in your hand;
  • seeing a check of $1,000 made out to you.
  • The list is endless and only limited by your imagination. So let your imagination go wild…

Here’s a chance to daydream like you did as a kid.

Let’s assume your affirmation is “I weigh 110 lbs” (or whatever weight you wish to weigh)

Simply create a mental picture of you:

  • stepping on a scale and seeing the numbers go to your desired weight;
  • looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as you wish to look;
  • having friends and family members tell you how great you look, etc.
  • Again, allow your imagination to take over and have fun with your visualization.

Each time you visualize your desired goal, feel free to change the mental picture or use the same one repeatedly. If you like, make your visualization into a mini “mental movie.” Add as many senses as possible to the movie.

  • Start off with the visual aspect of the picture.
  • Then add the sounds you hear in your movie.
  • Then add the scents you smell in the movie.
  • Then add the textures of the things you touch into the movie.
  • Finally, add the emotions you feel into the movie. Feel the excitement, satisfaction, and sense of well-being you are experiencing as you have reached your goal.
  • This is often called “complete visualization” and gives your subconscious mind a very clear picture of what you want to accomplish.

Here’s how a complete visualization, using the above example, would go:

You hold in your hands 10 fresh $100 dollar bills.
You can feel their crispness and notice their fresh ‘money’ smell.
You look around you and see your local bank.
As you wait in line to deposit your money, you begin to feel the excitement of knowing you now have $1,000 or more to deposit every week.
As you approach your favorite bank teller, you hear them say “Welcome to ABC National Bank. What can I help you with today?”..

Did you notice how you combined all 5 senses and the crucial element of positive emotions into your dream scenario?

You probably even felt a little excitement reading the above visualization.

    That’s the power of visualizations!

Again, let your imagination have fun and form your own unique “mental movies”

Did you know that if you spent 5-10 minutes every day doing this simple “daydreaming” you’d be on the effortless road to accomplishing any goal you wanted?

Ever wondered why certain people seem to accomplish their goals with seemingly little to no effort?

Each Watch Band is Unique and Tells Its Own Story

    July 31, 2008

Anyone who possesses a valuable and unique watch will also want something special from the watch band that is worn with it. HIRSCH artisanal watch bands are masterpieces, each created by craftsmen in a process involving over 60 separate stages, giving each individual watch band its own elegance and beauty.

    HIRSCH artisanal watch bands

In the course of development activities which have taken place over a number of decades, HIRSCH, together with the finest Swiss watchmakers, have created and implemented standards of production and quality which today are a benchmark for the entire sector.

One milestone in quality optimisation has been the development of the Oysterglove Supersoft lining leather, which guarantees softness and comfort in wear. Oysterglove is a waterproof and perspiration resistant lining leather, tanned in a way that is kind to the skin and discreetly coloured, and contributing to a significantly extended duration of life for the replacement watch band.

The elegance and durability of a watch band depend largely on the quality of the materials used. It is essential to exercise the greatest care in the choice of materials, both for the upper leather and for the lining leather, in order to provide softness and comfort in wear.

Leather is a raw material of high quality and rich tradition, and it is also a living material that requires a great deal of knowledge and experience and a certain necessary “feel” in order to be made into a fine bracelet. Working with leather presents a new challenge every day, for no two animals are alike and no single piece of leather is like any other, either in its appearance or in its consistency.

    The tanning process

The process of tanning must be undertaken in order to make the animal skin durable and to transform it into a resistant and to some extent water repellent material. The chemical combination of the protein in the skin and the tanning agent turns the hide into leather. The tanning agents used are either of vegetable origin (wood, bark, fruits) or of mineral origin (metal salts containing chromium, zirconium, aluminium, titanium or iron), or a combination of the two.

Alongside the quality of the raw products, it is the type of tanning that determines the quality and characteristics of the leather end product: strength, elasticity, water tolerance and also such characteristics as resistance and flexibility are decisively influenced by the tanning process. However, the finished leather always represents a genuine piece of animal skin, a true natural product with its own unique character.

    The refining process

The refining process significantly affects the aesthetic character of the leather. The leather can be dyed, or it can be given a shiny finish, or it can be patterned in various fashion “looks”. A distinction is made between two types of leather, depending on the refining process used:

? Smooth leather is a general term covering all types of leather with a closed surface. It can be smooth, but also grained, patterned, structured or shrunk, e.g. calfskin leather, nappa leather, goatskin leather, patent leather…

? Rough leather is the general term covering all leathers with a ground surface, e.g. velour leather or nubuck leather

    Creation of leather watch bands

In order to create its leather watch bands, HIRSCH uses top quality skins from different kinds of animals (mammals, reptiles, fish, birds). Depending on the type of animal, different leather parts can be used. With cowhide, for example, watch bands can be cut from the neck, the crop and also the flanks. Alligator leather represents a special case. The underbelly and the tail are used, but also flanks, of small complete skins taken exclusively from farmed alligators. The main factors affecting the visual appearance and the price are the proportion of round to rectangular scales and the method used for cutting out the leather.

    CITES - Washington Agreement

It is a natural part of the evolution of life on earth that species should die out ? but recently it is mankind, not nature, that has been responsible for the disappearance of animals and plants. International trade in wild animals and plants and the constant reduction of natural habitats have played a major part in this. International co-operation is necessary in order to put a stop to uncontrolled cross border trade in endangered species. The responsibility lies with both producer and consumer countries in equal measure.

In a spirit of joint responsibility, the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) was signed on 3rd March 1973. This UN convention is also known as the “Washington Agreement”, after the city in which the CITES was signed by 21 countries. Since the agreement came into force on 1st July 1975, the number of member states has risen to 158.

This ordinance envisages standardised import and export regulations and also governs the marketing of listed species for all member countries. The HIRSCH artisanal collection offers a selected range of watch bracelets made of alligator, crocodile and lizard skin, all of which comply with the strictest provisions of the Washington Agreement, i.e. these leathers come from controlled stocks and are purchased and sold with a certificate.

    Components

A HIRSCH leather watch band essentially consist of 3 parts:

? Upper leather ? on the upper side of the watch band

? Lining leather ? on the underside of the watch band

? Inlay layer ? an intermediate layer between the upper leather and the lining, which gives the watch band its 3-dimensional form

All these three parts are made of pure natural materials. The utmost care is necessary in the selection of both the upper leather and the lining leather; only top quality materials are used.

    Care of Leather Watch Bands

Watch bands are worn directly on the skin for up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are also, to a greater or lesser extent, subject to wear as a result of the actions we perform with our hands or arms. For reasons of hygiene, therefore, watch bands should be cared for and subjected to hygiene checks. Regular care of your watch band will considerably extend its life. Leather watch bands from HIRSCH can easily be cleaned with lukewarm water and left to dry.

HIRSCH watch bands are designed so that you can wear them with waterproof watches in the shower or while swimming in fresh or salt water. After spending any length of time in a swimming pool or in the sea, the watch band (like the watch, and your body) should be rinsed with clear water to remove any salt or chemical residues. A further point is that wet watch bands should not be left to dry on a warm surface, since rapid evaporation of water can impair quality. We therefore recommend that the watch band is simply allowed to dry on your hand.

Michael Kares owns and operates Watchband.biz, a watch band site for collectors and watch enthusiasts, showcasing an extensive selection of HIRSCH watch bands in leather and stainless steel.
